Myanmar authorities have seized 39 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) in Shan state, according to a press release issued by the Military True News Information Team on Monday (October 19).

According to the release, a joint security force made a seizure in Mong Hsat township on Saturday.

The contraband worth 780 million kyats ( 600,000 U.S. dollars) were seized from a car.

The seized narcotic drugs were transfered systematically to the concerned authorities and further investigation is underway to capture the suspects who fled the scene, the release said.

According to a press release issued by the President’s Office on Monday, a total of 1,377 drug-related cases were registered across Myanmar while 2,101 people were charged in connection with the cases as of Oct. 17 this year, since the formation of the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department on June 26, 2018.
