Education Minister Prof. GL Peiris says the GCE Ordinary Level Examination will likely be held in March 2021.
Joining the media briefing held at the Government Information Department today (03 Dec) morning through video technology, the Minister said that the results of the recent GCE Advanced Level examination are expected to be released in March.
The GCE Ordinary Level Examination, which was earlier scheduled to be held from January 18 to 27 next year, was postponed taking into account the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The Minister said that if the GCE Ordinary Level examination is held in March, the Examinations Department will be able to issue the results within a period of three months, (June).
Minister G. L. Peiris further stated that the move is aimed at giving students the opportunity to start A / L classes from July.
He also said the discussions are underway with the Ministry of Education, health authorities and other relevant officials to decide on a suitable 09-day period for the examinations to be held in March 2021.
