Samagi Jana Balawega MP Rishad Bathiudeen responding to queries raised by the Presidential Commission Probing the Easter attack said that the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday is a conspiracy launched by a powerful country through its agents to spread extremism in the country.
He was testifying before the Presidential Commission probing the Easter attack yesterday (21 Nov) at the Welikada New Magazine Prison via Skype.
The commission questioned the MP’s wealth saying “You said you were in an orphanage for five years after the LTTE expelled you from the North. How did you become so rich as soon as you entered into politics?”
“Sir, I do not have to beg to just because I was destitute. I am fully capable of conducting business,” said the MP sternly.
He went on to say that “My wealth and assets have nothing to do with the Easter Sunday attack, Lord! These are allegations to disrepute me.”
