Former Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga has said that public servants have to go beyond the law in the book when carrying out public service.

Speaking to the media after being acquitted of the Sil fabric case, Weeratunga went on to say “on this occasion we salute the judiciary. There was a strong belief that justice would be served.  I see the acquittal and acquittal of the charges against us as a greater tribute to the public service as a whole than to a single individual.”
