The body of a girl studying at the Jaffna University Medical Faculty was found at her house on 11th September, the Jaffna Police said.

They said the body of the 21-year-old girl, a first-year medical student from Chunnakam was found lying in her living room.

The cause of death of the student has not been established as yet and the police have commenced investigations to ascertain whether it was a suicide or a murder.

However, the body has been placed at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for an autopsy, and the police suspect that the student may have committed suicide due to mental stress.
