The Police Headquarters had received six complaints of election law violations by Sunday since the closing of nominations for 93 local bodies last Friday, Police spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
The six complaints had been received from Arachchikattuwa, Gampaha, Amapara, Moragahaheana, and Weligepola police areas.
There had been two complaints from the Weligepola area, said the Police Spokesman. One of them was about an assault on a person. The suspect had been taken into custody over the incident, SP Gunasekera said.
“One complaint has been lodged with the Moragahahena police about a candidate’s cut-outs being damaged by a group,” SP Gunasekera said, adding, however, that no suspects had been identified as yet.
Among the other incidents were the removal of banners and cutouts and placing forged signature on a nominations list, he said.
