Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said that government has taken steps to conduct random COVID-19 tests at crowded places, such as markets, fish stall and other public places located across the country.
COVID-19 tests conducted at the exit points of the Western province on people leaving the province will also continue, General Shavendra Silva further added.
Army Commander said a COVID-19 vaccine will definitely be brought to the country by February, adding that the Sri Lanka Army is currently in the process of preparing the required facilities for the vaccination process.
