The Transport Ministry has decided to provide relief packages for 17,000 private buses starting next week, Transport Minister Dilum Amunugama said.

He said the relief package will be provided to the private bus owners and their employees who are facing severe hardships due to quarantine curfew imposed by the government.

He said a certain amount would be added to the relief package for the bus owners, including drivers and conductors, he said.

Accordingly, the ministry is hoping to provide 17,000 relief packages for the 17,000 private buses, he said. 

The relief package includes vouchers of certain value for tyres, lubricants, diesel, batteries, spare parts and insurance, the State Minister added.
