A Grade 12 student at a school in the Kuilwatta area in Watawala has been diagnosed with the Covid-19 virus.
The student had arrived at the school yesterday (25 Nov) before receiving the results of the PCR test conducted last Tuesday, but the school authorities had sent him back home.
The Grade 12 student had recently gone to his house in Orugodawatta where his parents live with his grandmother.
Thereafter, while returning to Watawala on the 24th, a random PCR check was carried out on him and his grandmother at the Ginigathhena Kalugala police post.
Inspector S. Kamadevan of the Regional Coordinating Special Unit of Public Health confirmed that the boy has been infected.
He was prevented from entering the school by the principal and staff yesterday and the school premises was disinfected today (26 Nov).
